Moving On and Up

Ahhh been such a long time it seems.  Much to tell which basically consists of

  1. New Job
  2. New Job
  3. New Job
  4. NEW FREAKING JOB!!!
So yeah that's a thing that happened like the middle of this month.  I can't quite believe I got the job but I did and I think I'm settling in fine, at least I hope I'm settling in fine.  :S.

Up two levels and am now Line Manager of the team I used to be in.  It's strange, but I think it's working fine.  :).  A few teething problems but nothing too horrible so far.

Best go for now.

Life get's in the way sometimes

I've failed at putting up favourites for the last two months.  This is not good.  I've just been so busy at the moment with work and just doing stuff in general.  Reading, writing, planning NaNoWriMo 2013 and god remembers what else.

Am going to be seeing Iron Man 3 for the first time tomorrow night and it's a double first, I'm going with people I haven't been to the cinema with before, from my normal Thursday Night writing group.  Exciting times, and apparently I'm getting a Brownie.  :-D.  (Always excited about food).

Letting Go

Got my new phone at the weekend and it's really cool and I really like it and I'm happy with it....only there's one thing....I can't reset my phone.  Not in the I don't know how to reset it, more in the way that I'm gonna lose everything on it and never have it again.  I know it's just a phone and I've saved all the photo's and videos already but I just can't do it.

It was the same with my old laptop....I had to make sure everything was copied over, alas what happened then was that my dad thought I had finished and I lost like half of my music, moral of that story, never let my dad do anything for me again.

I don't know why it's so hard to let go of this phone?  It shouldn't be hard, I tend to build up an attachment to inanimate objects, not (before anyone thinks that) in that way, but I tend to have things for years before I have to move on and change...it's hard.  I'm going to have to let go of this phone eventually and the longer I leave it I know the harder it's going to be...

It sound's like I'm braking up with someone here, not re-setting a phone's settings...

Better go for now.

February Favourites

Misc
TIFIOSLive - It was amazing.  I did a lot of laughing and a lot of filming, though as I confused my friend the other day by saying that it looks more like Aliens or Ghosts singing and talking like John and Hank Green rather than them, themselves but I can vouch for the fact that it was them.  It was so much fun.  There was talking, reading, singing, question, more singing, more questions, more singing and then like hours of signing which I never actually stayed for as I was tired (0606 train that morning) and I had nothing for them to sign.  I already had my signed paper copy of the book so that was enough for me.

Catching Up 1 on 1 with Friends - I loved this too.  I haven't seen my friend since July last year when we went on holiday together.  Okay I've seen her through a computer screen but I've not seen her in person.  It was so much fun as well.  Sitting talking and eating, just catching up 1 on 1.  Love all my friends but sometimes I feel sitting talking 1 on 1 is so much better.

Body Shop Parties - Was at one in the middle of this month.  It was a good laugh.  We had lot's of laugh's and lot of fun and also lot's of food.  It's always good to have a girlie laugh with friends and people you have never met before.  Makes the day so much better.  Gave me something to look forward to.

Job Swap - With people being off this week I was asked to help out in a different team.  I mean it is part of my job to help out as and when required, but I moved desks and everything.  It was the same job title but it was different.  I have come to the conclusion that when I'm sure of something I still have to ask the question even though I know the answer as being yes or no.  I don't have enough confidence.  I mean in the job I'm in at the moment I can go along without asking any questions unless I really don't know the answer.  But it was different and it was fun.

Books
The Guardian Book Series - Wow okay this series is so good.  I fell in love after I think maybe the first chapter and have managed to read what's out in the last week maybe.  It's so good.  There are various spelling, grammar and miss typing's in these books but I can look past that and see the awesomeness that is the story behind those minor problems.  Sometimes they would make me laugh and there is nothing wrong with that.  These books have made me feel all emotions possible and possibly even more.  I was sitting reading yesterday morning and was almost in tears.  It's a must read, link to it on Goodreads here

New York Valentine - Ahhh this was so good.  I loved it once again.  It's one of those easy reads that I don't have to think about that much at all.  I would totally recommend reading the series.

Movies - Cinema
I Give It A Year - This is so funny.  I went with a friend and we were both laughing most of the way through it.

Die Hard - Loved it, I mean lets face it, it's Bruce Willace fighting in a film.  What's not to love.

Song for Marion - Awww this film is so good.  I cried quite a lot.  I would recommend anyone to go and see it but you must bring tissues with you.

Beautiful Creatures - Another great film.  I will have to go see it again as I missed some of it.  But really good film, didn't end how I thought it would.  Need to now read the book.  :-).

Movies - LoveFilm
I thought I would make this a regular thing and tell you each month the movies I get from love film.

The Devil's Double - This was a good film. Bit gory but good.
The Losers - This was funny. Action filled but still very funny.
The Vow - I'm a sap, I cried at the end of this, but it was a nice film to watch.
Burk and Hare - This had a few laughs in it.  I thought it might have been funnier, but it was okay.  Not the normal Simon Pegg english kind of funny but again still good.
What Happen's in Vegas - This was funny, I'm not saying it's the best film I've seen this month, but it did have a good amount of laughs in it and gave me a a warm fuzzy feeling in the end.

Friendship

I've stolen this idea from a blog I've read recently about the different kinds of friendship.  I have both Friendships she describes in her Blog post.

  1. High Maintenance
  2. Low Maintenance
The High Maintenance friends are the type that need you to communicate with them every single day in some way or another and need the attention from you to feel like you're still friends with them.  I do have a friend like this, I love her to bit's but I just find it can be irritating when I'm holiday with my Family and she call's me up to ask me how it's going.  I would much rather have the time away from friends when I'm with family on holiday and come back to them.  I, unlike my friend, like spending time with my family.  Card games and Hot Tubbing with you're family is fun to me.

The Low Maintenance friends are the type that you can go for months and months without seeing or talking to then slip back into conversation as if you had never been away from each other for an hour let alone 1/2 a year.  I have a friend like this too.  She moved over to the land of Glas and Gow ;-) so I don't get to see her as much as I would have wanted to.  Any time we do see each other it's like we've never been apart and the conversation just flows.

I'm actually getting quite excited now because me and said friend are going to be going to see the men of Greenness that is John and Hank Green, Vlogbrothers and all round awesome people.   It's going to be kind of strange though, because every time we see each other we always have our other friend with us.  We usually take the train down to Glasgow together and meet up with her but not this time, it's just me.  It's going to be ace but it's going to be strange at the same time.

January Favourites

I've been stuffed up with the cold / flu most of January so I've not done that much to be honest.

TV

Room 101 - The new show series started at the beginning of the month and is so funny.  Three celeb's sit and discuss things they hate about various different subjects and try and convince Frank Skinner that their hated thing is allowed to go into Room 101.

Movie

Les Mis Movie - I loved it, I was almost in tears when I was watching it at the end but held back.  I think I might have cried had I not had the "I don't want to choke to death" thing going on.

Book

Why We Broke Up - I loved this book.  It's basically a very long letter to this guy from his ex describing everything behind everything she has put in this box and how it added up to them breaking up.  It's got lovely art in the book which makes every chapter.  It's just a really good read.

Other
Strathyre Cabins - We went here for my dad's birthday this year as we did last year.  It's fun, it's not too far away from home, but far enough that when you're in the little towns around the Cabin's you can see the snow topped mountains.  It just looks very nice and needs to be visited.  The Cabin's are nice as well, there not massive but there not tiny.  You can get up to 6 in one cabin which is a nice size.

December Favourites

Movies
Nativity 2 - Danger in the Manger:- SO funny.  Sat and watched it with a few friends at the beginning of the month.  There was a bonus of there being David Tennant in it which made everything so much better.  Quite a lot of the jokes were in the trailers (as with a lot these days) but so many more funny bits in it.

Pitch Perfect - Loved it.  Have seen it twice already at the cinema and have downloaded the Sound Track.  It's so good.  It's a feel good movie of fun and romance with singing thrown in there for good measure and good laughs.  I was sitting in the cinema smiling like the cheshire cat.  So good.  Go see it.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Loved it also.  There's a lot more comedy in it than Lord of The Rings as this was written more as a kid's book than an adult book.  My dad was the first one to see it and told me I was going to love it.  He was right.  Andy Circus is so amazing as is Martin Freeman.  Everyone was just amazing.  Peter Jackson did it again.

I've seen other films but can't think for the life of me what they were.

TV
The Secret of Crickley Hall - I think this could actually be classed in both November and December but it finished in December so I'm sticking with December for this one.  It's a 3 part series on BBC 1 on Sunday night with Tom Ellis (Miranda hottie ;)) and Suranne Jones with Douglas Henshall.  It's a scary series with ghosts and various other things.  It jumps between the past (2nd world war time england I'm guessing) and the present day.

Doctor Who Christmas Special - It was good.  I talked to another friend of mine earlier on last month and we both loved it.  We also laughed at the fact we thought that the Snowmen were scary and made us reconsider what we thought of them.

Miranda - It's back!  I am in love with it.  I can't wait for the rest of the season.  I laughed so much when I watched it.  Miranda Heart is just so funny I love her.  Also Tom Ellis is just cute. :-)

Buffy the Vampire Slayers - Season 2 - It's on Love film and I seem to have forgot all of the episodes so I decided to re-watch it.  It's so good I love it and I think I always will love it.

Angel - As with Buffy I have forgot most of the episodes so I'm re-watching them all.

Book

The Casual Vacancy:- Never managed to finish this.  I couldn't get into it at all.

Winer Warmers - I got a Kindle for christmas and this was the first book I downloaded.  It's three short stories which most of I fell in love with.  I wasn't so keen on the last one which was very very short so I never got into it.

Let It Snow - Another load of short stories but they all intermingle with each other.  I loved the first one which was The Jubilee Express by Maureen Johnston.  Not to ruin anything.  A girl is stuck in a town she doesn't know and is taken in  by this Family for the night after an accident.  Everything about it was good.  I love her writing anyway but I loved the story that she told.  The second one I also loved, A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle by John Green.  I love his writing anyway but this story made me fall in love with him all over again.  It's the story of three friends trying to get the a Waffle House to spend christmas eve with a group of Cheerleaders that were on a train that's got stuck close to a Waffle House.  I can't explain it that well but it's good.  I wasn't so keen on the last one, it didn't hit me as 'oh wow' as the rest of them.

Music

Pitch Perfect Sound Track - Obsessed.  Listening to it just now.  If I could burn it onto CD I would but my burner is vibrating like crazy at the moment.

Hannah Montana Sound Track - Another one I'm obsessed with and know all the words to.  I'm not sure I should be admitting to this but I don't care, it's just so much fun to listen to.  Especially on the way into work, it just gives me some energy.

Wicked Sound Track - One I know all the words to and have listened to a lot this month.  It's just so much fun.

Misc
Ceilidh's: I love them, I've been to a few this year.  All of them have been fun.  Some of them have been awkward but most of them have been fun and I've had a laugh and a couple of drinks and just had fun.

Gingerbread Latte: I love them from Starbucks.  I always have a seasonal favourite drink and this time of year is the Gingerbread Latte. It's so warm and spicy and sweet all at the same time.  It's a comfort thing I think.  If everything is going wrong or I'm tired or I just need a hug or a good conversation with Friends, Starbucks is the best place for me to go.  Good food good drink and comfy seats (most of the time).

New Years With Friends in Stonehaven: It was fun.  We went down the the Fireballs on the High Street.  I did get a little bit squished and freaked out with all the very very very tall people standing all around me and didn't get to see much of the fireballs but I eventually, when everyone got too cold and board, got to the front and took a video of them and some good pictures, the video you can see here.

Happy New Year and may 2013 be even better than 2012.
