November Favourites

NaNoWriMo
Failed it this year.  Alas so much crap was going on around me so I couldn't finish it.  I'm still going to try again next year and I'm going to go and edit the novel.  It was fun when I was writing it but I have learnt a few lessons along the way.

  1. Never write in bed with the TV at reach, it's not conducive to writing and it distracts you.
  2. Never don't write unless you have no option, the thought of then having to write two days worth of words or more in one day is horrible.
  3. Never let the crap in everyone else's lives mash with yours, by the time you get home or the weekend comes the last thing you want to do is write.  All I wanted to do was sit and curl into a ball.

Picture a Day - Fat Mum Slim
I didn't even complete this.  It might have had something to do with me removing the list from the front of my phone and my lack of energy with everything else going on in my life.

Movies
Twilight, Braking Dawn Part 2:- Loved this film, have seen it three time in about a week with three different people.  1st time with my mum and sister, 2nd time with a friend and 3rd time with a colleague / friend.  Every time it was a different experience.  So many different reactions.  I also saw so many things the third time that made me laugh, but not things that should be funny.  The first time I didn't really notice anything, the second time though I noticed more things.  The the third time I noticed so many things that made me laugh I was laughing at things I shouldn't have.  Granted other people must have notice them as well as they were also laughing.

Not Movie per sae but Cineworld have just released their Premium Unlimited card meaning I get a shinny new card, 25% off food and drink, free 3D movies.  They also now allow you to book online too which will make it easier when going away to the movies with my family and friends who prefer to book.

I know I've been to see other movies but I just don't remember them / when I went to see them and never took notes.

Books
Naked Pray - A colleague at work gave this to me as she said she thought I would like it, and I did like it.  It was good, it took me a long time to finish reading it but I did finish it and I did enjoy it.  It had a different way of writing from what I have known in the past.

Now Is Good (previously published as Before I Die) - I love love love loved this book.  I watched the movie first and then found out it was a book not that long after I watched it.  It made me sad and happy all at the same time.  Ace book, highly recommended.

TV Shows
The Walking Dead, Season 3 - Just watched the latest episode while typing this.  It was so good, it's become somewhat of an addiction of mine of late.

Roswell - I'm watching this on Netflix just now and have also become obsessed with it.  It's funny that I remember snippets of it but never realised how much of what I remember was in the first few episodes. Another series I highly recommend getting on DVD or watching online through Netflix or Love Film or anything like that.

Merlin - I love this show and am extremely disappointed that they are cancelling it.  I've become addicted to the love and the magic of the show and how every story is different.  I also may have a slight crush on Bradley James who plays Arthur.

September Favourites

God I forgot about this so I'm gonna skip it this month and do something for November's favourites.  So all throughout November I'm gonna be writing my November Favourites so I don't forget the things I've loved by the end of the month.  Yeah that's a problem.  :)

Off to the town hall to watch Paranorman which should be interesting.

Pissed Off!

When the hell did it become someones right to tell me that I was doing badly at something and just laugh at me for it when I tell them why I'm at a disadvantage.

They are right, I was doing badly at bowling but I have the very physical disadvantage of having a lack of fingers meaning I can't stick my fingers in the bowling balls, add that to my inability to lift and carry heavy things with one hand without the possibility of snapping my wrist (OK slight exaggeration but I can't lift my own body weight without my wrist cracking or being in pain) and they just tended to swerve at the last second!

It really gets to me now that I think about it more and more....I'm so sorry that you can get strikes and all that it's funny for you to laugh at someone who clearly has a disadvantage.  Everyone else I know was joking that night, I was laughing it off and making fun of myself.  Maybe if they had apologised after they realised my disadvantage I wouldn't be so annoyed, but instead all I got was

"Practise makes perfect I guess" and then they just walked away.

What the f**k?? I tell you if I was a person who spoke her thoughts out loud in the heat of the moment I would be in a whole pile of crap right now, but evidently I am not someone who speake's her mind, I am someone who types her mind out on blog posts for everyone to see who wants to.

August Favourites

Hello

Long time since I posted anything up on here.  I've decided to start doing a 'Favourites' blog every month for all of the favourites that I have for that month (self explanatory really I know).  So this is my first "Favourites" blog.  In the middle of September but I will have lots more for my September Favourites and I will have it up sooner too.

Music
Dare I say it, at the moment I'm really starting to like One Direction.  I don't know why but it's just something I like at the moment.  I'm also really into Rooster as well.  I haven't really listened to them in months but right now it's shifting between those two as to what I put on my iPod or iPhone.  I might also have become obsessed with the single of the week that iTunes do at the moment. I've only downloaded three songs so far but I've liked them all so far.  Who doesn't like something for nothing??

Books
I'm a book worm so this is going to be more of a 'Book's I've Read / Am' this month rather than a Favourite book.

Divergent - Veronica Roth - I fell in love with it.  It's got plot holes, I can see that now, but at the time I didn't think about that.  I just fell in love with the beginning of a coming of age trilogy.  I've ordered the next one and that will be coming soon I hope.

Okay this last month I have been finding it really hard to read anything, but next month I will hopefully have more than just the one book on this list.

Films
Another hard one.

Brave - All I can say is wow.  I loved it.  Made me even more proud than I already was to be a Scot.  I loved it so much I went to see it three times (each with a different person).  Graphics were amazing and I loved how all three directors (Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman and Steve Purcell) brought the screen play to life.  I do love myself a Pixar film.

The Bourne Legacy - I've also seen this three times last month.  Such an amazing film.  It took me all three times to see the the film (once with subtitles) to understand what the hell was going on, but once you know what's going on, oh my god it is amazing.  Jeremy Renner made it for me.  He has such an amazing body and to top it off he can act.  After seeing him in the Avengers as Hawkeye I got a thing for him (though nothing can change my feeling for Andrew Garfield (Cute as cute can be)).

TV shows

Castle - Love it.  It's been on for ages but at the moment Alibi on Sky is playing it every weekday so I'm catching up.  Nathan Fillion plays Richard Castle a crime writer who starts helping the police in their murder cases.

Neighbours - Addicted to it, I mean I even get excited about coming home from work so I can watch Neighbours.  I don't know why I'm so addicted, I guess that 80 percent of the characters are now my age and I can relate to them.  I don't know, either way I'm in love and I think everyone should watch it.

That's all for now.  Thanks very much for reading.

Race for Life, Taste of Edinburgh, Wimbledon & Spain

Hello

Did lots of stuff since I last blogged.

I completed race for life in an hour walking.  It was fun, and I wasn't in pain at all the next day or the day after that which I was surprised at.  It also surprised me that it wasn't raining all the way to the end, it only started to pore with rain as me and my friend reached the 3K marker and I mean pore.  I was soaked through, though I didn't have a jacket or anything with me.

I went to Taste of Edinburgh.  It was really good.  I ate lots of food and had a lot of laughs.  Got to see The Fabulous Baker Brothers, alas I chickened out when I could have gone to see them and get something signed.  But I still enjoyed myself.

That same weekend I watched the mens final at Wimbledon on the TV with my friends eating subways, strawberries and canned cream, cookies, carrots & humous and just a load of other fun stuff.

Spain was amazing we went and did so much, Barcelona I think was the best with Port Aventura a very close second.  The fountains in Barcelona were amazing, they are a must see if you ever go, it's at the palace in Barcelona.  We took every mode of public transport except a taxi around Barcelona and it was interesting.  I loved every minute of it and would go back on holiday again in a heartbeat.

Race for Life! THIS SUNDAY!!

Hello

So race for life is happening this Sunday.  My companion has said that she is going to have to walk it with me (I never got a doctor's appointment until two weeks ago so I'm walking it) as she seems to have caught a cold.  I'm still going to have to listen to some music or something like that.

I'm kind of scared, I didn't think this week through very well, I kind of forgot about Race for Life being the day before a friend and I go down to Edinburgh for the day.  Also the weather is going to be as foggy as it is now if not worse.  Wooo Hooo!

Edinburgh Zoo

Today is one of those days where it's going to be crazy.  I've not had much sleep but I'm wide awake and ready and willing to go to Edinburgh Zoo on a bus for the day!  Am I crazy?  Yes?  Okay.  I'm actually looking forward to it.  I don't think I've been there before so it's going to be fun.

Race For Life - Little Set Back

Hello

So I haven't posted since I said that I would, I trained for the first week fine and the second week I got two weeks before I realised how hard it was for me to breath after running for a minute and a half.  After talking with my mum she said she had Exercise-Induced Asthma so after the easter brake (doctors don't return to work until Tuesday) I'm going to have to go and speak to my doctor.  I might not have it and I might just be really unfit, but I don't really want to take the chance.  Alas I will get back into it as soon as I have the go ahed from the doctor that it will be fine for me to do it.  I'll walk race for life if I have to if it's something else.  God only knows.

Gym Blitz

It's been suggested to me that I do a Gym Blitz until I:

  1. Go On Holiday to Spain
  2. Run Race for Life
Which sounds crazy considering that isn't until July and for those of you who don't know what Gym Blitz is, it is, according to my friend who recommended I do this, going to the gym every day.

Half of me wants to give it a go, the other half of me could think of nothing worse.  I know I should go every day or at least three times a week and do my weights etc but I just don't have the

  1. Energy to go every day
  2. The drive to go every day
  3. The funds to get there (petrol mostly)
  4. I have friends that want to do things on the weekend
Quote: "I think if you just pushed yourself you would be able to do more than you think,"

This is true, and I am pushing myself, but I don't want to do myself an injury and be off work or the gym for months because I pushed myself too hard, yes push yourself but don't do it to the point of pain, that just isn't the right and causes more hassle than anything else.

Script Frenzy - April 2012

Again I am crazy, next month, along with training for Race For Life I am also going to be partaking in Script Frenzy (visit http://www.scriptfrenzy.org/ to find out more) so crazy times all round, I don't really know where I'm gonna fit sleeping into the equation but I'm sure I'll find a way, either that or it means drinking a LOT of coffee in April, I will do it though, I am determined.  More determined to do Script Frenzy than anything else but that's life.  By May I'm gonna be dead haha.

Routine

Hello

I've just been thinking about routine and looking at my tracker for weight watchers and realised how hard it is for me to have one on the weekends.  Every week I have my routine for food, going to the gym, going to weight watchers etc. but I feel that at the weekend all my routine goes out the window and I don't have any idea why.  Lunch for example, I don't seem to have lunch on the weekends, I tend to either get distracted or not be hungry on the weekends.  Today I'm getting my hair done then hoping to go to the gym and get back into it before I lose the love for it that I've acquired over the last two weeks before getting dizzy and having an eye infection (I don't think going to the gym with red eyes is a good look and is more likely to scare everyone).  I still feel dizzy, but I might feel dizzy for the rest of my life and will then have that as an excuse to not do anything, that's not right.  I must live life even if I feel like shit.

OK got slightly off track there....yeah with today's plans I'm not going to have enough time to have lunch or I'm going to forget about it, I don't want to but I know I will forget about it.  When I'm in work I always have the routine of brekkie, tea, lunch, tea and tea again but weekends....nah it's just brekkie and tea at night.

Strange is me.

Chocolate Guilt??

I just finished my lunch at work and still needed something else to eat as I felt that I wasn't satisfied with the crap sandwich and the even more crap yogurt that I had decided to have for my lunch last night.  Looking at everything they had on offer at the counter I decided on a chocolate bar.  Now, after having been back for 20 or more minutes I feel guilty about eating the chocolate bar.  Since when has weight watchers taught me to be guilty about eating a chocolate bar?  It's also going to encourage me to eat a salad for tea when all I really want is Tesco's Mac & Cheese.  Don't get me wrong I like a salad as much as I like the Mac & Cheese it's just that I'm having 'one of those days' and eating a chocolate bar can make things turn into a really bad day.  God only knows what's going to happen if I do have this Mac & Cheese for tea.

Is it even weight watchers that is making me feel guilty about eating the chocolate bar?  Could it be the fact that everyone is saying that I don't need to lose weight and that I'm fine the way I am and it's getting to me slowly?  I'm still losing and gaining weight most weeks but I'm not maintaining.  It's getting me down which is making me want the chocolate that's making me feel guilty.  Do I need to move classes and get a new leader who's more encouraging towards you  and less annoyed because she 'doesn't get paid as much' because no one is losing weight?  I know that part of the guilt is because I know I can do better and eat better but because I'm so freaking tired it's just easier to have the ready meals and stuff that are filled with crap.  Also with friends telling me I should cook my own meals all the time, I would but I work full time and don't normally get home till 8 maybe 9 at night and then can't be bothered to cook from scratch, cooking before hand and freezing or putting it in the fridge would be an option but not when I'm living with my parents.  We have limited fridge, freezer and cupboard space in the house as it is without adding a weeks worth of food for me.  Also mum and dad are not willing to have the same food as me every week.

Alas I am now finished work so must go and get weighed.

Gym

Hello People!

Don't know why I said that...ah well...

I've had a programme design made at the gym.  It's good, I now have a purpose when I go to the gym where as before I had none what so ever.  I would just run on the treadmill, now I know how to use the equipment I have to use :).  The only one I'm struggling with is the tricep dips.  I just don't have the strength in my wrists to do it.  I'm gonna ask if there is anything else I can do to do the same thing but not using my body weight to do it.  My wrists crack as it is without adding my body weight on top of it.

Must go for now.  The world calls.  Haha night night x

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!  OK it's 3 days late but it's still here and still going to be applicable.  Had I posted this in February then I would have understood.  But it's still January and close to the beginning of it.  Anyhooo I got only one new years resolution that's important just now and that is:

Be Happier Being Me

Kind of something you would have thought I was, most of the time yes but some times I look in the mirror and go 'Oh My God'.  I take everything everyone ever tells me and it stays in there, it may not be meant in any way, sometimes, most of the time, they don't even know what they said would offend me or make me feel less happy about me.  It's just a passing comment, but it all stays in there.  Maybe it should then be to not take what people say to heart.  Who knows.
